Easter at Our Lady of Mount Carmel - 2016
During the Easter Vigil Mass, the new Paschal Candle was blessed and lit before a procession into a dark Church. The Parishioners lit their own candles from Paschal candle as a sign of the promise of Eternal Life given to them in their baptism. Following the singing of the Exultet and the readings from the Old Testament, the Church was illuminated during the Gloria to reveal the beauty of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Following his homily, Father Tony baptised, received into the catholic Church and confirmed the members of this year's Journey in Faith Group. CLICK HERE for their testimony. On Maundy Thursday Father Cornelius Safe washed the feet of the Parishioners and the Stations of the Cross for Children took place in the Presbytery Garden led by members of the Children's Liturgy Group. |

Father Cornelius 15th Anniversary Celebrations At Saint Benedict's Social Club, Father Cornelius Safe, our priest from Cameroon, celebrated the 15th Anniversary of his ordination to the Sacred Priesthood with a Mass of Thanksgiving. This was then followed by a buffet and an evening of dancing. Father Cornelius was delighted with the diversity of people present: British, Irish, Belgians, French, Indians, Japanese, Polish, Cameroonians, South Africans, Congolese, Nigerians, Kenyans and Ugandans. There was also an appeal for funds to refurbish the Cathedral in Kumbo, Cameroon. Father Cornelius had this to say about the celebration of his 15 years of service in the Lord's vineyard as a priest: "Thank you for contributing spiritually and materially for this celebration and for my project in Cameroon in the Diocese of Kumbo. The project is to construct a sanctuary around the Kumbo Cathedral for open air masses during heavily attended occasions like priestly ordinations, religious professions and Chrism Masses. The money raised was £1850 and will be dispatched to Kumbo as soon as possible. Thank you for your generosity". |

Patronal Feast - Our Lady of Mount Carmel - 2015 16th July
It was another very busy week in the Parish as we celebrated the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel - our Patroness. Mass was celebrated on the Vigil, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel First School, Saint Bede's Middle School for their Leaver's Mass and finally on the evening of the Feast day itself. At the Vigil Mass was offered in thanksgiving for the service of Mr. Tony Tamburro the retiring Headteacher of Our Lady of Mount Carmel for his dedication and devotion to the school, the Catholic Church and the wider community. The school's motto is 'Love God and Love one another' and Mr. Tamburro has lived that over the years of his vocation as a teacher. The Dean of Kidderminster, Father Douglas Lamb, presided at the mass and at the end the choir, who had sung beautifully with the school children from Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Saint Thomas More, Saint Peter's First Schools and Saint Bede's Middle School, sang Flos Carmeli (Flower of Carmel) as Tony crowned Our Lady and the children placed posies on Our Lady's altar. Afterwards there was a party at Saint Bede's Middle School. |
Consecration Mass - 16th July 2014
On Wednesday 16th July 2014, we celebrated the 180th anniversary of the opening of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Redditch. To mark such an important moment in the history of the parish, it was decided to invite Archbishop Bernard Longley to Consecrate the Church. This was a culmination of much restoration work on the interior of the church, and also the installation of a new stone altar. The Mass was a wonderful celebration, and one which will be remembered by parishioners and visitors for many years to come. Our Lady of Mount Carmel...pray for us. |
